Why we need you to vote early.

Posted by: Dorian Cole -- Thursday, October 15, 2009

You don't have to wait another 19 days to vote NO on 1.

As of today we have 19 days until Election Day.  That means we have less than three weeks to talk to as many voters as possible and encourage them to vote early.  Starting now, you can go to your city or town hall and vote early.  Or, you can request an absentee ballot online. Either way, it only takes a few minutes.

Why do we want you to vote early?  Voting early saves us time and money and allows us to use our resources on those we haven’t yet contacted.   Our campaign will be calling hundreds of thousands of voters between now and Election Day to make sure they cast their vote for marriage equality. These are people who will vote No on 1-- if they vote.  If you vote early, we can take your name off our list and focus our resources on contacting supporters who haven't voted yet.  Voting early also saves you the time of standing in line on Election Day and ensures that even if a last minute meeting or exam comes up or your vote will still be in and counted.

Request your ballot online:  http://voteearlymaine.com

Then, let us know you voted here:  http://protectmaineequality.org/ivoted

Or, if you enjoy the process of voting in person, like so many do, you can go directly to your local town hall and vote there.  You can do both of these things now.

We know that this campaign is going to be decided by which side can turn out the greatest number of voters in an off-year election.  It's crucial that our volunteers can talk to as many potential No on 1 voters as possible and make sure they get out to vote.

Whether you vote by mail or in person, do it today-- don't wait until November to cast your vote against Question 1.
